The President of LemAfriQ, Prof. Roméo GBAGUIDI, was invited to attend this Congress and to speak to the young people on the topic “Young People Taking Charge of their Destiny” and “Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Sports as drivers for Youth employment”.

Under the guidance and sponsorship of His Excellency Y. K. MUSEVENI, the President of the Republic of Uganda and Patron of the Afro Arab Youth Council (AAYC), the council has convened a Congress from 7th to 10th October, 2025, to hold the 21st AAYC anniversary celebrations, celebrate Uganda’s 63rd Independence Day, hold a General Council and launch the fundraising drive.
It attracted over 1500 delegates from both the Arab and African countries and eight Heads of State, with the following objectives:
- Launch of the AAYC headquarters construction fundraising drive
- Hold the General Council and set a date for the General Assembly
- Update Membership and receive progressive report
- Lay a foundation for youth networking, collaboration, empowerment and promotion of Pan-Africanism and Afro-Arab solidarity.
- Set the platform to raise awareness for youth, peace, unity and development
The Afro Arab Youth Council is an International Youth organization bringing together youth of both the Arab and African World. Formed and launched on 09/03/2004 in Khartoum), the AAYC conglomerates several national and regional youth organizations which are active in youth work, under the theme; Youth, Peace, Unity and Development. The organization aims to take advantage of the existing commonalities between Arabs and Africans to achieve unity of Africans and Arabs, peace and peaceful co-existence and advocate for consideration and inclusion of young people in the social economic transformational development agenda of their various countries.
Uganda is hosting the international headquarters of the council that will house five projects i.e., an Office Block, International Sports Stadium, a hotel and its attendant recreational facilities, a University of Science and Technology, and an African and Arab Cultural Heritage Centre
The AAYC entered a Host Country Agreement with the government of Uganda in which the AAYC is recognized as a legitimate international organization uniting the youth of the African and Arab countries.
